Tom Wraith, cellist

Thomas Wraith graduated with a Masters degree from the Royal Academy of Music in 2013, having previously studied music at Trinity Hall, Cambridge where he held an Instrumental Award and a choral scholarship. He studies the cello with Josephine Knight. As a soloist, Thomas has performed all around the UK. He most recently performed the Beethoven Sonata for Piano and Cello op. 5 no. 1 in Boston, Lincolnshire.


Thomas was a member of Southbank Sinfonia for 2014 and was principal cellist for numerous high profile concerts such as performances of Rossini’s La Scala di Seta with the Royal Opera House Jette Parker Young Artists in the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He has also played with a number of other ensembles including the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra (extra player), Southbank Sinfonia Alumni Orchestra (principal cellist) and the Bristol Ensemble (extra player). Thomas has taken part in side-by-side projects with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, BBC Concert Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields and the Philharmonia Orchestra.
